You’re not alone. CareFirst has recently updated its Frequently Asked Questions document to answer the questions that have come up the most while communicating with Providers.

Here are the answers to our top questions:

  • CareFirst will not accept ICD-10 claims prior to October 1, 2015.
  • Starting October 1, 2015, CareFirst will not accept any paper or electronic claims that are not compliant with our ICD-10 Claims Submission Guidelines.
  • Starting July 20, 2015, CareFirst will begin accepting ICD-10 authorization requests for services after October 1, 2015. See the details in our ICD-10 Authorization Request Guidelines.
