Attention DME Providers: Certain Codes No Longer Require Prior Authorization

To promote efficiency of care for our members, we have determined that certain Durable Medical Equipment (DME) procedure codes will no longer require prior authorization.

Effective for dates of service on or after Jan. 1, 2015, the following codes* no longer require prior authorization: A9282, E0181, E0277, E0303, E0304, E0329, E0372, E0603, E0935, E0936, E1340, E2320 and L3350.

As a reminder, certain codes still require prior authorization. Visit www.carefirst.com/preauth to view the full list.

Always verify eligibility and benefits in CareFirst Direct prior to rendering services to our members.

*The Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code set is the property of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
