February 03, 2016 -

As you already know, preventing disease and detecting disease early is an essential part of patient care. You can help your patients maintain overall good health by reminding them to get screened early and often, when appropriate.

To aid in your treatment recommendations, CareFirst's Quality Improvement program continuously reviews our clinical guidelines based on national medical association and health organization guideline updates.

In December 2015, CareFirst's Preventive Service Guidelines were revised to incorporate changes to the following guidelines for:

  • Breast Cancer Screenings
  • Abnormal Blood Glucose Screenings
  • Tobacco Smoking Cessation in Adults
  • Tobacco Smoking Cessation in Pregnant Women
  • Screening for High Blood Pressure in Adults
