Updated Claims Information for Freestanding Substance Use Disorder Facilities
Freestanding inpatient substance use disorder facilities should now use *bill type 86X to submit claims for inpatient services.
This change applies to all claims submitted to CareFirst for inpatient detoxification, inpatient rehabilitation and residential treatment services. Please immediately notify your internal billing department responsible for CareFirst claims submissions. Claims that are not submitted with bill type 86X will be rejected and must be resubmitted with bill type 86X.
