Billing Change for Place of Service 57 and 58
Starting January 1, 2022, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and CareFirst BlueChoice, Inc. (CareFirst) will change how we process claims for Place of Service 57: Nonresidential Substance Abuse and Place of Service 58: Nonresidential Opioid Treatment Facility.
When you submit claims for Place of Service 57 or 58, we will process these claims as a facility setting, rather than an office setting. We are making this change to ensure we are processing claims consistently across our lines of business.
You may notice changes to your patients’ benefits, such as their copay amount. Make sure to verify your patients’ benefits in the provider portal before filing a claim.
